National Policy Framework for Small and Medium Enterprise Development.

Here we selected a specificindustrial case that belongs to the small or medium category according to the definition of the National Policy Framework for SME Development. Then investigated the problems/challenges within that industry and mapped them into the six core areas indicated in the policy framework. Then we proposed solutions to key problems that we identified by utilizing the key strategies in the framework. In phase 3 of the project, we visit government institutions and other related bodies responsible for facilitating SME development, to identify the deficiencies within them to address problems faced by small and medium enterprises.

1. Negative impact of limits in government payment procedures, for acquiring external resource person.
2. Dispersed nature of the organizational structures and responsibilities of the government agencies,
3. Lack of human resources in government agencies for R&D,
4. Lack of realtime data and statistics to make correct decisions,
5. Lack of cooperation between researchers and the government service providers to bring the research to public benefit.
